adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams Supercolor Pack*

Wednesday, 8 April 2015

Choice is possibly the most essential element in style. This is something known by both Pharrell Williams and the Adidas Originals team, made clear with the new Supercolor collaboration. As far as I can tell, they created the Supercolor range to give complete freedom of expression. Instead of the typical celebrity collaboration that tries to replicate their style, or a brand dictating what in vogue, Pharrell and Adidas are allowing you you to pick your personal Supercolor... and that's bloody brilliant.

The wonderful people over at ASOS decided to send me a pair in Bold Blue to style, as you can see below, whilst also inviting me along to the Supercolor Launch in London. The event was absolutely fantastic, which you can see on my YouTube channel, and I really enjoyed playing with the outfit for these beauties.

If you don't know about this collaboration pack, check out the page on the Adidas website. There are 50 colors* available, covering basically the entire spectrum, which I believe to be the most choice ever given in on style of footwear.

"Supercolor is a celebration of equality through diversity. With 50 colors of the Superstar, everybody will be able to select his or her color. It is more diverse than any pack ever before and therefore it is more individual than any pack ever before."

I decided it was important to avoid the all-black outfit with a bright pop look when styling the bright blue shoes. It's a fantastic look that is perfect for every other bold color*, but if I can't be a little more adventurous with blue, especially after talking about my want for more color* in my wardrobe, I don't deserve my position as a style blogger. Alongside that, part of the fun of these shoes is to enjoy the freedom and express yourself, so I cracked out the burgundy socks for contrast and took it from there.

I've never been a fan of flat sole shoes but I've been converted here; they are incredibly comfy and the silhouette suits me more than expected (in my mind, that is).

I understand that the Supercolor trainers seem to bring out the Marmite side of people, after all, a big block of color* does tend to draw attention, both positive and negative. I have even been told that they look like they should be made of Lego... which actually makes me love them more. I love that they invoke opinion and, above all, discussion.

It was the easiest icebreaker in the world at the event; you could walk up to someone, anyone, and compare your color* to theirs. It wasn't competition, it was appreciation - from one equal to another.

This post isn't me showing you how I dress to give you inspiration. This is me saying that you should throw caution to the wind and express yourself, Supercolor style.

So what is your Supercolor?

Cheers guys,
O&U.

*Dear UK readers: I sincerely apologise for 'colour' being spelt 'color' throughout, however I had to stay true to the branding. This was both emotionally and physically painful for me.
